Remember when...

The tourist on holiday, the armchair traveller and anyone interested in our heritage will find these "mini-histories" of 73 Ontario cities and towns valuable glimpses of a past rich with character and drama. The railroad, the natives, unfriendly forays from our southern neighbors and, most of all, the courageous early settlers, all played fascinating roles in shaping our past and, therefore, defining our present.

Some 100 photographs show the early life of towns and cities we are familiar with today. From the crude beginnings of our settlements to the gracious guesthouses of the early 1900s, these photographs evoke a time and a style of life we have all but forgotten.
